SORRA jewelry is made to be worn, lived in and carried with you.
Fine jewelry will naturally change with wear. Gold develops small marks. Surfaces soften. A piece begins to carry evidence of where it’s been.
That’s part of its life. A little care will help it live with you for a long time.
Everyday Care
A few simple habits will help protect your SORRA jewelry:
Put jewelry on after lotions, perfumes, cosmetics and hair products have dried.
Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering or soaking.
Take it off before strenuous exercise, household cleaning or activities where it may be exposed to impact.
Avoid contact with chlorine, bleach and other harsh chemicals.
Store pieces separately when you’re not wearing them to help prevent scratching, tangling and impact.
When in doubt, remember: last thing on, first thing off.
Caring for Natural Stone
Natural stone is one of the things that makes SORRA jewelry what it is.
It also deserves a little extra care.
Stones vary naturally in hardness, porosity and sensitivity. Some can be affected by prolonged exposure to water, heat, chemicals or sudden impact.
To protect your stone:
Avoid prolonged contact with water.
Keep it away from household chemicals, perfume and cleaning products.
Don’t use ultrasonic or steam cleaners unless specifically recommended for your piece.
Protect carved stones from drops and hard impact.
Store your jewelry somewhere dry and away from extreme heat or prolonged direct sunlight.
Natural variations in color, pattern, inclusions and figure aren’t damage or imperfections. They’re characteristics of the stone itself — and part of what makes each piece its own.
Caring for Your Feather
SORRA Feathers are carved individually from natural stone.
While they’re designed to be worn, carved stone should be treated thoughtfully. Avoid dropping your Feather or wearing it during activities where it may strike a hard surface.
When you’re not wearing it, store your Feather flat or securely in its SORRA packaging, away from other jewelry that could scratch or damage the stone.
And because every Feather is different, its natural variations aren’t something to correct. They’re part of the piece.
Gold & Diamonds
SORRA fine jewelry is made in solid 14K gold.
Gold is durable enough for everyday wear, but it isn’t immune to scratches or small marks. Over time, these signs of wear create a natural patina.
Diamonds are exceptionally durable, but their settings still require care. Avoid hard impact and periodically check that stones appear secure.
If you notice movement in a stone, a change in a setting or anything that doesn’t look right, stop wearing the piece and contact us.
Cleaning Your SORRA Jewelry
For routine cleaning, gently wipe your jewelry with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth after wearing.
For pieces containing natural stone, we recommend avoiding jewelry dips, harsh cleaning solutions, steam and ultrasonic cleaners unless specifically approved for your piece.
If your jewelry needs more than a gentle cleaning, contact us. We’re happy to help determine the safest way to care for it.
Stone-Specific Care
Some natural stones require additional consideration.
Turquoise Turquoise can be porous and sensitive to oils, cosmetics, chemicals and prolonged moisture. Keep it away from perfume, lotions, household cleaners and prolonged water exposure.
Mother of Pearl Mother of pearl has a naturally delicate surface. Protect it from scratching, chemicals, heat and impact. Wipe gently with a soft cloth after wearing.
Malachite Malachite is relatively soft and sensitive to acids, chemicals and heat. Avoid prolonged water exposure and protect it carefully from impact and scratching.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis can be porous and should be protected from chemicals, prolonged moisture and abrasive cleaning.
Labradorite Protect labradorite from hard impact, scratching and harsh chemicals. Clean gently with a soft cloth.
Onyx Onyx is durable enough for regular wear but can still scratch, chip or fracture from impact. Avoid harsh chemicals and protect carved pieces from drops.
Rose Quartz, Citrine & Rutilated Quartz Quartz stones are relatively durable, but they should still be protected from hard impact, extreme temperature changes and harsh chemicals.
Storage
Store your SORRA jewelry somewhere clean and dry.
Whenever possible, keep each piece separately in its original pouch or compartment so stones and gold surfaces don’t rub against one another.
Chains should be fastened before storage to help prevent tangling.
